Prof. Racek was trained as an architect whose scope of expertise spans furniture and architectural design as well as project management, urban planning, product design and sustainable architecture. Before joining the faculty, he ran a furniture/architectural firm with his brother.Their work has been shown in Los Angeles, New York, Milan, Melbourne, Beijing and Dubai and has been featured in such publications as The New York Times, TIME Magazine, and over 30 other domestic and international magazines. In 2001, he received a design award from the American Institute of Architecture, Los Angeles Chapter. He received his LEED AP certification in 2009.
