Fashion Design
Fashion Design can be understood as a form of studio art. As such, the new program includes five categories of coursework: Design and Construction studios, Drawing and Portfolio studios, Computer Aided Design, and Field experiences, as well as Theory and History courses. Most of the courses have been developed in the department of Apparel Merchandising and Interior Design; however, courses from Theatre and Drama, Fine Arts, and Music are recommended.
Full-time internships are strongly recommended; however, since the number, location, and type of available internships are dependent on the retail market and overall U.S. economy, we cannot guarantee there will be a sufficient number of internships such that we can require those types of experiences. Recommended, on-campus, practical experiences can be found in Theatre, the Sage Historic Costume Collection, and the Musical Arts Center.
