Jane MatrangaProfessor Matranga received a Master of Science in fashion design from Drexel University and a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in drawing and painting from the University of Cincinnati.

After graduating from Drexel, Professor Matranga worked for York luggage as a product developer for brands such as Perry Ellis, Jordache and Diane Von Furstenburg. She has also worked as a designer and product developer for Design Accessories in Philadelphia and Ashton Drake in Chicago.

Professor Matranga taught in the fashion design programs at the University of Delaware, Purdue University and Stephens College before joining the AMID department.  She has taught tailoring, fashion illustration, CAD, patternmaking and draping, painting, career wear design, and clothing construction. Professor Matranga has also led many travel study programs to New York, Paris, and Italy.

She is currently teaching accessories design, shape and foundation and introductory textile science labs.

Professor Matranga’s areas of expertise and interest include fabric surface design, pattern manipulation and three-dimensional silk painting—a garment design’s silhouette and components are integrated with the painting executed on the garment’s surface. Other areas of expertise include fashion illustration, accessories design and couture techniques.
