Prof. Embry received her undergraduate and graduate degrees in apparel merchandising from Indiana University and has been a lecturer in our department since 2005. Prior to joining our faculty, she served in sales, marketing and management positions for eight years with several retail firms. A Sam Walton Fellow, Prof. Embry is the faculty advisor to the IU Bloomington chapter of Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE), an award-winning student group advocating service-based learning in the principles of free enterprise. SIFE works on projects that empower people in need by applying business and economic concepts and an entrepreneurial approach to improve their quality of life and standard of living. Prof. Embry’s expertise and areas of academic interest include: fair trade and alternative trade organizations, U.S. retailing trends, and service-learning pedagogy that connects curriculum with community need.
Prof. Embry teaches courses in textiles, fashion brand management, international textile and apparel trade, retail merchandising and sustainability.
